I am playing the game my first time through adn i am level 25 or 26 and i am a warrior. I tend to play games rather the way i feel the charecter should be played. ie i didnt invest points in any of the skill trees that are not related directly to the warrior.

Now comes my dilemma i am still looking for the good ol' wizard and i know he is in the cellar of the castle. i have found the hidden entrance to the cellar from the sewers (killed the executioner guy which was sorta painful) and now i am sitting there staring at a locked door. i have scoured the entire sewers looking for a lever or a key and found none. so i tried entering the castle (of course i was told i am unwelcome there). i sorta gave up on this quest for teh time being in leu of more leveling (went back to iona's dungeon).

as a noob i am just wondering do i really need lock pick or can i get by with out it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

Welcome to the forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />
In this case you're just at the wrong place. Do you wish a map for the correct location? The executioner's place is a dead-end alley.

Lockpick in general: Is really necessary IMO, not all chests, doors etc have keys, you'll miss a lot of loot.

hey, welcome to teh forum, no, the executioner room is not the room were you go in, its a different door, thats open. and IIRC, its open even though you don't talk to Rob. look on a map of the sewers.

EDIT: I don't get it, I looked, I refreshed,i twas empty, so I replied, but how did you get ahead of me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

lockpick is actually one of the most valuable skills...argueably...around. I don't know how many chests that I wouldn't have been able to open if I didn't stock points in it

I like lockpick. However, even though I have yet to finish the game, I have not come across an area where it is required. The only real value it has is you get lots of loot you would not have had, or just convience since you don't have to track down levers and keys. And for me, the convience is worth the points I have placed in it.

there is a quest given by rob which necessitates lockpick skill.

What I do is scour the merchents for lockpick items. Once I have 3 lockpick items and 1 pickpocket item I go do the thieves guild quests and get my 2 free lockpick skillups. Max lockpick without any investment 'cept for some gold.

another great idea. i used to do that before finding that skill points are in abundance towards the end of the game.
