Hello, hope someone can help with this as I have thoroughly enjoyed the game thus far and it would be a shame to have to abandon it.

My character (lvl 32 survivor with good archery & magic skills) has just rung the gong to complete the ritual. He is killed ceremonially, then Janus/the entity who is really Janus appears, slays the council and then is just about to slay Zandalor when the screen goes black ... all of which I assume is normal.

However, once the scene has finished, it goes back to the character controls, only for my character to be on 0pts of vitality. The screen is covered in fog of war/blackness, but I can see from the automap that his location is a few seconds run North of the chamber where the ritual takes place.

I can't change skills or access potions or weapons etc., but have discovered I can eat some some food to regain some vitality. Having done that though, I still can't seem to gain control of the character or move him around. It's practically the same as when the character dies during any part of the game.

Can anyone please explain why this might occur, and how to avoid it if I am doing something wrong?

Do you use a No-CD-Crack?

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't think so. I'm playing it on my brother's computer, and he always uses Alcohol to mount his games as virtual drives so he can keep his CD drive free (he's only got one). He's away at the moment so I can't ask him to make sure.

Is there a way I can find out if he's using one by checking on his hard disk?

Try ejecting the CD tray. If there is no play CD, he either used a no-CD hack or a virtual CD-ROM. At that point in the game there is a video played which is on the CD, though I would have thought a virtual CD could handle that.

Ah thanks Raze, I think you've solved it. He is using Alcohol to mount the CDs as virtual drives, so something has gone wrong somewhere with that then. Sounds like I just need to find one of the CDs and insert it. I'd ask which one has the necessary video clip, but it'll probably be faster if I just try them one by one till I get it.

Ta muchly.

/Hehe, I didn't read your post properly. I see now it's the play CD I need. Thanks again.

Alcohol is (also) the name of a CD-ROM emulation program.

Does it crash when starting Divinity itself, or when trying to load a saved game? If the first, maybe there is a problem reading/playing the intro videos from the play disk?
