So I've been playing D:OS for a bit the other day and I've gotten quite far when I noticed that I am not quite happy with how one of my characters is built. Now I am in a dilemma, should I make new characters and lose all progress I made, or should I play on with a character I don't like and hope to fix it with later level-ups?

But it's a general problem I've seen in many RPGs: when I start playing them, I am never sure how their game systems work, so I mess up my initial builds or take less-than-ideal presets, with no way to fix them later (usually). So I was wondering, would it be possible for D:OS to include a character rebuild/reset option? I don't say it should be readily available, but something like, a single-use item that you can use at level 3 or so--just far enough for you to realize that your initial build is messed up but not far enough to potentially invalidate your previous choices.

Does anyone else think it's a good/terrible idea?

Larian allowed the respec in DKS - which was however pretty expensive. In one of the Twitch TV streams Swen said something like "they allowed it in previous games so there is no reason to not allow it in DOS". So, my guess is you will be able to respec your character at some point but it will also be very costly.

As for your particular problem: The savegames will be probably broken again with the next beta update so you will be forced to start anew anyway^^.

I think Larian said that there would be a way to rebuild and the topic was already discussed

I think if they wanted to put a respec system it should be in the homeshelter because that one is currently displace from time and should allow you to modify your character stats right there by just having find the right Star stone to unlock the portal where that character who does it that's staying at...

Plus it would probably fit into the story as well...

Well, I am all for costly respecs, but my point is that they should give one for free early on for players who messed up at character creation because they didn't know the rules. ^^
