You ARE supposed to be able to upgrade. There was a $10 DLC pack containing all the digital CE items minus the second copy of the game. Steam took it down about a day after it was put up and Larian said there was a problem with it that they are working to fix and hoping to have it back up as soon as possible. So don't buy anything quite yet, the option to upgrade should hopefully be back up soon.

once again, the DLC will more likely be codes to enter on whatever version you want, so you won't have to create a new steam account to get the CE DLCs, you could just add it to your SEA or whatever other version you already own

Good point too. I was just saying it's not necessary to buy another CE entirely but props to him for supporting Larian, they are great guys.

The $10 DLC has only a few things the DCE has.

Divinity Original Sin - Source Hunter DLC pack:

Unlocks Divinity Original Sin: The Golden Grail DLC, Divinity Original Sin: Zandalor's Trunks DLC, Divinity: Original Sin Design Documents and Art Pack, and Soundtrack. (DLC will only be made available on release.)

Divinity: Original Sin Digital Collectors Edition:

Includes two copies of Divinity: Original Sin, the Source Hunter DLC pack, plus Beyond Divinity and Divine Divinity. Send the second copy to a friend! (DLC will only be made available on release.)

So minus the second copy of D:OS you get 2 other Divinity games for free which are not included in the Source Hunter DLC. I meant he second copy of the game is worth the $30 difference but adding in the DLC and the other 2 games is just a great deal.

I really hope there will be a logical upgrade option from the base game to the DCE. I'd pay the $30 for it and I'm sure others would as well. I really want to continue to support the devs. The $30 upgrade option would allow us to do so.

You can buy the two original games for $6 each so you get: Original Sin $40 + Source Hunter $10 + DD&BD $12 = $62

That gives you everything minus the second copy of Original Sin which you REALLY don't need at all. Your pal or coop buddy will have to buy the game him/herself but you're not missing anything.

And I completely fail to comprehend as to what you mean by "logical upgrade". The CE costs $70, one base copy of the game costs $40 so are you actually suggesting they sell everything I listed above at $62 for $30? I hope not because that would be laughable. Just the basic game is $40, which is already far cheaper than the standard $60 and this game sure provides A LOT more content than any $60 game I recall having been released in the past year, and on top of all that you're STILL complaining?

A "logical Upgrade" is an upgrade from a base product to the next package deal of said product. So instead of buying (in a games case) each DLC and other said items in the upgrade package separately, there would be a direct flat cost going from product A to B.

Package deals aren't always about cost. Accessibility and Convenience are also factors. Access to each individual item and products that we would not otherwise have been exposed to is one. Combining all said products into a single package makes it easier & convenient for consumers.

In Divinity: Original Sin's case the Digital Collector's Edition is crazy given that is has a second copy of the base game. Given that fact I'd pay more than the $30 for it. I'd pay the $30 for the DCE upgrade even if it didn't have the second copy because hey, I like to support the devs.
