Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Killing Rats

I recently purchased this game and having played it now for approximately two whole days, I have come to the conclusion that I am a rat killer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />. I cannot seem to kill anything else. All the weapons I have located thus far have all been broken or worn, I cannot seem to make a level even after finishing the unfreezing of the nutty wizard and even those flying nasty dragonflies get the best of me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />. Am I in too big of a hurry? How do I repair the items I do have so I can defend myself and gain points? Am I destined to live in the sewers all my life? I tried this as a mage and warrior ( I certainly, at this point, cannot possibly be a survivor <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />)

BTW I checked my trophylist and saw one poor citizen had sneaked in.
He must have been an easy kill, for I can't remember doing it.

One should never kill a green dot; only red dots are foes who seek killing you and you may defend yourself to the limits but killing children! Give me a break.

I agree! ..But the green dots should have the decency to run when the red dots are aproaching.

Well, I am getting a bit better. At least I was able to get the kid out of the cave without killing us both. Still, have not completed the catacombs to save that nutty wizard. Going down to level 3, that gate guardian just refuse to die and I did not.

I will go after what looks like it will come after me, but not a bunny..nope..no way.

Poser, when you ask George/Aleroth, you'd like to look at his plant in the bedroom - he goes in there/stays and you can loot his whole shop. Have you already asked him?

Ars Magicana/mage shop. If you pay the poet outside a few coins, he'll recitate a poem. the mage comes out to listen, run into the BACKROOM (only chance) and grab the stuff out of the chest: good dagger.

even when i was a brand new character (L1), i dont recall having trouble killing skeletons. you can always find a dirk or a cudgel somewhere.

Well, I started over as it seems I have missed some prime opportunites to excel here. I did get a few good weapons from George/Aleroth and I did pay the poet, but missed the opportunity to search the Wizard's backroom. I was so into the poetry I let this opportunity pass me by <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Hi all.
I'm also new to the game (seem to be able kill just fine so far <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> more or less), have so far completed the catacombs & barracks quests, but seem to have missed the 'kid in the cave' <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> . Have I missed him early on or have I just wandered in a different direction?
Been headed mostly south, haven't gone north-west yet.

You get that quest in Ars Magicana (market square), to the north east.
