I haven't played it, but that seems unlikely. The only time a great deal of new content was added was the transition from alpha to beta, as far as I've seen.
No, there are no new map areas or companions added to the beta. Depending on which beta version you played there were changes to skills / abilities / talents, the tutorial dungeon, End of Time, etc, and general polish.
