I just installed the game, and update

when i run, it gets choppy.. ive tried all the settings.. from smoothness alphabit.

I have a geforce 4ti 4200 128meg ddr vid card, lastest drivers installed.

Also, I cant get the logo thingy in the tester.. when i do direct3D, any screen res, smoothness or none, alphabit or none, when i hit test all i get is a black screen and i can see my mouse an i can move it around, but it just sits there.. i have to alt tab it out an close it manually. When i try Software mode, i get the logo, but i can see my desktop icons in the background, and its really slow, and i get about 31fps.

What could be the problem? I really want to play this game

If you skip the test in the configuration program (check the 'Skip Test' box, then hit the 'Test' and 'Apply & close' buttons), does the game itself run in Direct3D? This is a problem with some Radeon cards, but I don't know if it would help here.
