So, after hearing about this update I turned off auto updates and it still, rather stupidly, updated.

Is there any way through steam to reverse this update so I can continue with my saves. Three days before their previous release date is rather ridiculous to put a new beta out so since I'm going to lose everything in 12 days now, I have no desire to begin again.

Any way to reverse this forced new beta through steam?

Short Answer: No

Long Answer: There is no way to revert updates in steam if they are pushed in the MAIN branch.

D:OS is still gonna get a lot of updates until release, which is on the 30th.... and 11 days is still a lot of days to push out updates, or do you want to download 1gb of updates on release day? wink

Remember, this is normal for early access... shortly before release you often see dozens of updates pushed over steam as this is the point in time where every bug and issue not patched could destroy review scores.

PS.: IF you ever want to make sure steam does not update something you have to start it in Offline mode. Only way I know to be 100% sure that it does not override your settings.

Won't the release version be a different entry in your Steam library anyway, requiring another full download? Iirc that was the case for Dragon Commander (have both the beta and release in my inventory)

* as usual this is imho (unless stated otherwise); feel free to disagree, ignore or try to change my mind. Agreeing with me is ofc also allowed, but makes for much worse flamewarsarguments.

It is a full moon night and ... bèèè! ... the Weresheep are out...

It depends on how your bought the game. If you got the early access version, I think they will just make a huge update on release date and that's it.

If you got an alpha/beta key, I think we will have to re-install the game with our new steam key, but I'm not sure if it will be so or they find another way...

We are proud to report that we finished our DOS2 localization project (Hungarian). :'-)

Nah, if you had to enter a new key there would be a clear distinction in your library between beta and release version .. but game is listed as Divinity - Original Sin and thus, on release all we get is a up-lift to release state ... whether that'll be a tiny or huge update remains to be seen wink
