Am I missing something or direct IP connect is bugged?
IP found with http://www.whatismyip.com/ - no luck. Connection failed both ways (me to friend and vice versa).
Tried Hamachi (virtual network), no connect through LAN (virual LAN with Hamachi)
Tried direct IP to virtual IP that Hamachi gives - cannot connect, game is private (host was in public mode, people connected through steam public lobby)
Obviosly host was always in-game at the time of connections attempt.

Larian, PLEASE, make some statement about NON STEAM version. There are 10 days left to a release. This is very confusing.
Whats with the direct IP connect? Will there be a non-steam friend list to connect to? Will there be a non-steam global chat/lobby?

hi Indik! this does sound like a problem. I am not skilled in networking, but thought I would ask. Did you do the port forwarding for the port you are using? make sure it's open on your firewall and such?

I had to do that for a few games before my friends could join.

>.< sorry if this added more confusion, was just curious.

I opened all access to the game in windows firewall, and I do not have other dedicated software of this kind. About port forwardind - no, I havent touched it because I`m not familiar with it frown
Would you be so kind to link some FAQ on port opening?

By the way, I`m using simple router D-Link. My IP shown by "google" is the same as in routers settings (I assume its correct).

Anyway, I think that Larian should post at least some info on the case. Otherwise its no longer DRM-free game, because we are limited to steam, and the problem with steam is that D:OS is region restricted, at least that is what Steam tell me.

oh gosh for routers sometimes you have to access those settings. If you don't know how to access them it can be a pain. I am a bit nervous of linking any guides as it might cause more confusion. Hopefully a mod can offer clear help or Larian will release some kind of game linking guide.

One I found that has alot of different brands listed. has Dlink on it! Hope it helps *fingers crossed*

^starting guides.

AFAIK you should be able to connect with Direct IP. Did you try through Steam? (I thought the only restriction was with buying the game, for regional prices, not playing)

The global chat is already non-Steam.

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool, for both systems. The report will contain network information, which should hopefully help Larian determine the problem. It also contains any saves you have, which (since they are not relevant in this case) can be deleted from the zip to reduce the file size, if necessary/applicable.

My brother connected to me through direct IP (LAN \ one router) so it works for sure.

Thanks for the help, I guess I`m too stupid for this kind of things -(
I`ve forwarded some random port (2023) in router settings, to test. Router was rebooted.
All online checks still tell me the port is closed.

Should I have a static IP or is it ok with dynamic?
Which ports are ok to open?
How can I specify that opened port directly to a game?

Basically I do everything as described here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbUrxRhSFgY
Still online checks tell me that port is closed.

I`ve googled and opened some ports in the router settings, now instead of "connection failed" it shows "game is private", the same as when connecting with hamachi`s virtual IP. Game was in public mode, although I`m not sure this setting affects direct IP connection.
Ports are 27000-27015, 23243, 23253, 23232.

At the same time free Tunngle VPN + connect via LAN worked fine. My friend was able to connect without any problems. Steam connection also works, obviosly.

All this leaves me wondering, if direct IP works at all, not counting connections inside one LAN, behind one router, as Phenomen did.

You are not stupid ^_^ this stuff gave me a massive head ache for awhile. I am unsure how to do it for Divinity so might want to do as Raze suggested and contact support. I do hope they make it easier for people to connect to each other.

I think Larian support has too much work this pre release days to be able to resolve my issues with direct connect.

And from recent Larian`s email it is clear that they have focused on steam version
Quote
Please be aware that the Steam version is the version that currently has the best support for multiplayer, and is also the version that will be updated the quickest.

So, I guess, Steam version is the way to go.

As for non steam multiplayer, at least Tunngle LAN connect is working without any problems. Download Tunngle -> register (free) - > log in -> join Divinity OS lobby -> LAN connect in-game. Thats all.
