Where is the difference between the Steam Version and the Retail Version of Divinity: The Original Sin:
I have read that even the Retailversion of the game needs Steam to download/update it, but don't needed steam to play this game.
If I buy the game directly on Steam is it a little bit different download or is it exactly the same? And if it is the same must run steam to play the Steamversion?
Is it possible to buy an Retailversion and get the Sourcehunter DLC-Pack from steam? And if I get the DLC from Steam, which file format does the soundtrack have?

The retail version is Steam; most of the data is on the disk, so it is just the updates since the DVDs were produced that needs to be downloaded (voicework, etc).
With both the retail and Steam direct version, the game will not require the Steam client to play (unless you want to use the Steam workshop for mods, or invite a Steam friend through the Steam overlay).
Once you register the game on your Steam account, I don't think there should be any problem getting the DLC.
The kickstarter said the soundtrack would be available in several formats, including lossless. Since kickstarter backers can choose to get the game from Steam, I would think the soundtrack in the DLC would be the same.

Steam has DRM protection which means you require steam to play the game. Good old Game version dont require steam to play the game. Retail version dont require steam to play the game. It is recommended that you buy the game from www.GOG.COM to play the DRM free version. I dont like steam. It forces DRM on you even if you don't even need steam to play the game. I dont think they will release GOG version so you have to play the DRM version on steam. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin/postsYou get a digital copy of Divinity: Original Sin for Windows PC, Mac or Linux(*) via your preferred digital retailer such as Steam or GOG.com if available. Digital copies come with a digital manual. This low price is only available to those who help fund.

The released version of the game will not enable Steam's DRM. The client will only be needed to download/update the game.
The retail version is Steam.
There will be a release on GOG. No pre-orders have been announced yet, but it will at least be there on release.

Does GOG have a 20% off sale? Say want you want about STEAM, but I have no problem with it or with saving money all the time.

The retail game apparently is DRM free, being able to play it on steam while offline (You can actually do that with some games, if you didn't know). Support of Steam Workshop, with mods and stuff, is also a killer addition. But some games I buy on GOG, their service for old stuff is just awesome.

So, after downloading the game via the steam client there is no difference between versions (Larian Vault, GOG, Steam)? There is the "Larian Vault"-version option for DOS in the vault. How will this version work? How is it different? What version will be updated the fastest or will there be no noticable difference? Will i be able to download mods from steam workshop and use those mods in a not-steam version of DOS?

So, after downloading the game via the steam client there is no difference between versions (Larian Vault, GOG, Steam)? Well, only the Steam version can use Steam features (invite/connect via friends list, Steam workshop, etc). The Larian Vault version is essentially the same as GOG, a full DRM free install package download, and patches to update (eventually being rolled into a new full install). Steam will get updates fastest, because it has the fastest and easiest system in place to distribute updates. After that, immediately after release Larian will focus on the GOG version first, since that is the next largest group of players. You can get mods through the Steam workshop and transfer them to non-Steam versions of the game (mods are just sets of files in a certain folder), and there will be other places to get mods (Nexus, etc).

Thx 4 the answers! Much appreciated!

Does anyone know if we can choose the language on the retail version ? I think I will get the Collector's Edition on Larian Vault if there is any translation or at least English subtitles during the cut-scenes.

Yes, the retail version is Steam, and you can set the language to any available option after release.
