Is there any plans for expansions or content-dlc? I am really enjoying the Beta right now and i am level 8 or 9 right now and i really don't want the game to be over! laugh

There are no specific plans for any expansions / DLC, but if the game does well, then there likely will be.

Don't forget about the editor. I'm pretty sure there will be some good stuff made with it.

Given that Larian is a small studio I think their plans are somewhat fluid; so some of it is likely to depend on reception of the game et all. Don't forget they still been thinking abuot ways to improve dragon commander. I.e, I suspect if reception is over the top (sort of like witcher 2) they will add considerable free content but if reception is totally negative (no clue - maybe presales have already been over the top) they might rethink that they need to go in another direction. Being a small studio has a lot of advantages with regards to being able to 'go with the flow'.

How the heck did you get to level 8 in the beta?

I believe they said that 'if the game is successful...' more stuff will be coming. Not sure however how you actually measure that when it would seem a large percentage of your buyers have already bought the game before it's released either through KS or Beta. Most game companies get the majority of their money after the game is released. Larian got a large chunk of money before the game was released, kind of doing it backwards. Perhaps they are hoping for a lot more sales after release to even things out. But technically hasn't KS already paid for this game as far as production goes? Are all the sales after release just gravy? It's a different way of doing things that's for sure.

Surely you jest. Even $1 million is just a drop in the bucket when it comes to games development, especially with an RPG of this magnitude. The vast majority of the funds put into this game was their own, the KS just brought in some additional funding to help make the game better.

The kickstarter and SEA paid to add extra features to the game. If Larian wants to make back the initial investment and earn enough to make the next game, they have to sell more than just the kickstarter and SEA copies.

Well, Swen recently wrote this...

"We're hoping Divinity:Original Sin is going to be a big success and if it is, we'll add *a lot* of extras. My hope is that we can make this a live game that is continuously improved and expanded upon, with plenty of mods appearing, and we're setting ourselves up for that. Of course we'll only know if this is feasible after it releases, because the sales will determine how much resources we can put into this."

I bet they've got more than a few ideas for potential expansions and such, though it's best if we don't know what they are in case the game isn't commercially successful enough to justify them. At least I don't want to know to avoid disappointment.

Larian have previously stated that they're not a fan of DLC (the typical nickel-and-diming model) so I would expect more substantial content than say horse cow armour which could just be modded in anyway.
