Anybody else annoyed that the hair color "jet black" really isn't black at all? In character creation it looks semi-black for the female, but in-game it's just a boring brown color. Would love to see this fixed so that jet black actually is black and not brown...

I sometimes pity the game developers. Its not often though. Usually i hate them just like anyone else. But sometimes there are these rare occasions when i cant feel nothing but pity.

I was curious about that. Is it some kind of bug with male models?

nope, neither male nor female have black hair in-game even if you choose jet black frown

Do you have anything to say that is actually pertinent to the topic at hand? If not keep the irrelevant posts to yourself.

I think Raven might be the color you're looking for. It's the darker of the black colors.

There is Raven's wing, but it's purple.

Noticed that right away too, they need to fix it.

Well, if they're going to "fix" the color I would prefer they just add to the palette rather than replace one color for the other. I actually like the current "jet black". I think they already altered the one skin color I preferred to use in the last patch, which was.. annoying.

Jet black hair can look brown in the red lighting on the starting beach; it is black in other lighting conditions.

Raze, it isn't even black in the character creation room. It *is* significantly darker than the other browns, but it's brown.

Maybe check your monitor settings?

(All this is completely discounting the tied-back dreads that are lighter than all the other hairstyles in *any* color. (Except white.) That's a separate issue entirely.)

The problem with pure black and texture tinting (which are not designed with one specific color in mind, but rather all the available colors) is that it tends to make details hard to see and you end up with something that looks a lot like your goat avatar: recognizable because of the silhouette, but good luck spotting any additional details beyond that.

Maybe their artists went as dark as they were willing to go before they decided the result looked like crap.

The trouble is it's not black at all, it's brown. I've checked under many lighting conditions and nowhere in-game is it black. If it was a light black I wouldn't mind at all. Also I don't think the whole texture loss issue holds water either because tonnes of other games have no problems giving characters black hair with little to no loss in texture quality. If for some reason it can't be black then they should just rename the color to a more suitable name because jet = a deep black color, which it is clearly not...
