I could not find it and its driving me crazy. Why, when I talk to an NPC, is the camera so zoomed in? The golden rule is, you dont zoom in on characters who have no voiceover audio. See parts of Age of Conan and Final Fantasy XIV. Close up characters with their mouths moving and nothing but silence looks odd.

Please tell me there is an option to keep the perspective zoomed out when talking to NPCs.

This is a potential dealbreaker for me.

They probably did this because otherwise it'd be hard to know whom you actually are talking to...

aside that it's probably something we can mod out later ;P

this is a gamebreaker for me. Zoomed in dialogue kills this game.

Well okay, maybe I overstated it a bit.

I just feel that you should never zoom in on character models unless they are of super high quality HD variety. This is isometric type game. I think it goes without saying that a lot of artwork is not going to look that great so close up.

My other issue has to do with what looks like people playing pantomimes. When you get too close to character models, enough to see their mouths moving yet no words are spoken, it begins to look...odd.

Please give us the option to have the camera stay back when in speech.

I literally was about to purchase the collectors edition and stopped when I saw this. I know I sound picky, but I love EVERYTHING else about this game.

There's a zoom dialogue option in the options menu. You can try playing with it to be sure, but I suspect it's mainly to enable/disable zooming on conversations for the player not doing the talking in co-op games.

Ok, I just tried this option out for you and it's the complete opposite of what you want. It's like a super-zoom on conversations.. much closer than the normal zoom. When you activate it, it pops up a warning that it's intended for mods, not the main campaign.

Sorry. smile

But that is probably what he saw and may be happy with the non-checked version. I am getting ready to upload a pic that displays the differences. If you leave the value unchecked, it only zooms a little and you can't really see the faces to the level that concerns him.

*edit* - Here is a pic with the two zoom in options. Top is unchecked zoom, bottom is checked zoom:

Odd, mine must be checked then because mine always looks like the second pic. But I'm sure I never selected that option. I'll have to check it.

For the longest time it used to look like the first picture. Then with a patch it changed, and for a few months it's looked like the second picture. Now (with the latest patch) it's back to the first picture with an option to look like the second.

I don't have access to the current version and when I look on Youtube everything has conversations up close! When were these options introduced? What is the exact name of the option to have conversations be zoomed in or out?

My purchase depends on this.

The option is 'Enable close-up dialog' in the 'Game' section of the Options, near the bottom, just above the quick/auto save options.
