Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Armour of Larian has given me negative resistances

I got the armour a while ago, and all was well until I went into the castle. When Elona sent my character to the dungeon and his equipment was stripped of him, I obviously sent him to reclaim it.

Upon putting the armour back on, he now has lightning, fire, poison and spirit resistances of approximately -524000! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

One hit from a steel archer kills my 30th level warrior who prior to this had a fire resistance of about 80.


I can't revert to an earlier game-save btw, as I don't have one...

There was a bug with removing an item with Magic Barrier on it, if you had not also learned the skill yourself. Installing the latest patch will fix your resistances.

opne of my friend had the same problem but the patch didnt fix anything, his resistance are all -100000

If he has Windows XP, did he install the patch from an account with administrative privileges?

Does this patch work even on previously saved games and if so where can I get it.New To forum and i'm sure the address for patch is here somewhere but finding it is difficult. All resistances are really low but I had this problem long before I got the amour of larian. Does it work on Windows 98 Second Edition?

You can get the patch here.
The extra quick saves and technical fixes are retroactive, so will work on existing saves. Some of the story changes only take effect if you start a new game after installing the patch, but existing saves will work fine. The patch will correct the resistance bug in existing saves, and the game should work fine under Win 98SE.

When I installed the game it was version 1.0034a. But when I was around lvl28 I got -30 in all resitance. When I discovered it was something fishy with my resitance I had -20 in resitance. I started to unequiped and equip all my things alot and then I got -30. I have Shield of the drangon which got magic barrier +1. But should not this bug be fixed in 1.34?

You got DD included with BD (already patched)? You could try installing the patch anyway.

If that doesn't help, do you have any points in Magic Barrier? One person had a problem when the Magic Barrier skill he had learned and the equipment bonus added up to 6. When they removed a skill point from Magic Barrier so the bonus brought them to level 5, they stopped loosing resistance when un-equipping the item with the bonus.

You can use iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to remove skill points. If the patch does not help, you can repeatedly learn Magic Barrier to bring your resistances back up. Max Magic Barrier and save, use the save editor to remove the skill points, re-load the save, re-learn the skill and save, and repeat as necessary.
