Really hope someone can help. I'm truly loving this game and my coop partner and I have now found a bug that means we can no longer play after putting a lot of hours into the game!

Basically, whenever we level to 4 (we are synched in terms of XP right now, so we level together), my screen only goes completely black except for a few bits of UI that flickers (health/avatars/map). Everything still works - for example, I can save, I can load (except it loads into the same blackness), I can move and even cast if I press the right buttons, but its completely black and only some of the buttons that are left on the screen even work.

No matter how I level to 4 it happens - either through exploration XP or fighting XP, it doesn't matter, each one leaves me with this issue.

Please help if you can! We're dying to play. Thank you!

Did you try levelling in single player? Maybe try dismissing your companions and see if that makes a difference.

Is the Rift Travel button still available, to try teleporting to the End of Time?

Can you split your party up, place a teleporter stone on the skillbar (so you can use a hotkey for it) and then teleport after levelling?

Yes, I teleport to the other half of the party in town and it is still black! I also cannot actually click anything so cannot go to anywhere else. I put the pyramid in my skillbar, ported out, and it showed the map updating to me being in the right place, but everything was still black! It sometimes fades in/out (the UI) but I can usually see the map and the portraits. I've emailed support as you suggested in the other thread (sorry, wasn't sure where to post and hadn't seen this technical support area until just before). Thanks for your help Hopefully they can use my saves to work it all out!

I have a similar issue although on a non supported hardware (GeForce 7900gs). and the answer from the tech support was "your hardware is too old". Still, the game ran fine before a given update and i spent more than 20 hours playing the game but because Larian doesn't want to support this GPU, they won't even investigate the issue.

Still, i have hopes that someone will fix the shader responsible for this problem. In the meantime, i let the game update to the last version (introduction of the mod section). Now not only my screen becomes black like described in my bug report but the characters also have some sort of black shading all over their body like if they don't get any light (global illumination ?).

This happens in the character creation too. Only the characters are black.

Anyhow, the black screen issue seems to be the same as Sarya's since we also can see the UI (or parts of it in her case) and still "play" while everything is black.

I have hopes that Larian will take this matter a bit more seriously now since now there is someone else with a more "decent" and recent GPU than me that experiences this bug.

Just wanted to respond and say that when mine goes black, its completely black. You cannot see the game at all except for an in/out flickering of the actual UI.

Also, it seems to be related to the arrow that appears when you level up. I've worked out that if I leave a co-op game, and someone else levels up my guys, opens all the inventory and gets rid of the yellow arrows, I can then come back in to a normal game.

I have the same issue, screen goes black except for the flicking ui. This is totally game breaking and obnoxious.

Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, any crash dumps, as well as your saved games (in this case pretty much all but the most recent can be deleted from the zip, if file size is an issue).
