I killed him, so i got this annoying quest that wont go away. Any way to finish it without talking to him again?

Did you dig up his brother's armor?

no, i know where it is because i did it in beta but like a fool i forgot to talk to him twice and just killed him. my perceptions at 8 and i tried a boosting spell but am not able to locate it myself. just wish the quest would go away.

You dont need to physically see the mound where you can dig. If you know where the loot is all you need to do is "equip" your shovel in your weapon slot while standing above place where you wanna dig. Solved this quest this way, too .

I had the same problem but found it at coordinates . It's pretty much straight north a bit from the troll you killed. There's no markings but just dig there as the above poster said.

once you dig in the right spot, the quest will complete (I killed him too for the XP)

The perception to find the location if you didn't know is 10 (so Jahan's 6 +2 items +2 burn my eyes spell would do it)
