Here comes a new Topic for the Disscussion from the Melee is terrible Thread.

Since a Warrior can choose between One Handed + Shield and Two Handed Weapons there should be a Reason for both of em.
( It is NOT about Rogues and their Daggers ! )

The Warrior is STR Based and unlike the Dex Based Classes und the Int Based Classes he has only one Skilltree: Man at Arms.

Now the Problems:
Nearly all Man at Arms Skills have a high Cooldown and scale with your Weapon Damage.
This means stronger Weapon -> stronger Skill.
So Skill do more Damage if you use them with a Two Handed Weapon.
Since the Skills have high Cooldown you will use a lot of normal Attacks too. One Handed Weapons need 3 Ap und Two Handed 4 Ap per Attack.

One Handed Weapons deal less Damage than Two Handed Weapons and thats alright since they also cost less Ap und you can use a Shield, BUT the Skills cost the same for both.
The normal Attacks are balanced by the Ap Costs but the Skills are not. To do this the Skills should cost less and/or have less Cooldown if used with a One Handed Weapon.

But since this wouldnt be cool i would prefer a new Warrior Tree or better two.

One for One Handed + Shield
One for Two Handed
and maybe one for all.

The Two Handed one is clearly about Damage.
This one should get Skills which give you more Power and let you Sacrifice your Defense for even more raw Power.
Give this Tree Skills like Whirlwind, the Quadra Strike just raw Damage and Traits like Bully ( more DMG ) or Berserk ( more Dmg when Low Life ).
It should be just about Rushing in and killing everything before it kills you.

The One Handed + Shield one should be about Defence and Sacrifing the Raw Power for the Ability to stay alive longer or even just Control the Battlefield.
Skills could be something like:
Shield Bash: Damage scales with your Shield. Can Stun an Enemy.
Stand Ground ( toggle Stance ): less Offensive Power but more Defensive.
Hold: You just hold an Enemy with all your Might -> He cant do anything ( like a Stun ).
Even Something like taking Status Effects from your Allies would be nice ( but this would be like a normal Tank which we dont exactly need ).
Or a Skill which Burns Poisons etc. Enemies near you if you are Burned Poisoned etc. would be nice.
And some High Cooldown Heals ( or one ) for yourself and/or your Allies could be here.
NO Taunts or something like this.
You should be like a Rogue who controls the Battlefield but instead of dealing Damage you can take it.
Traits should be the 50% Magicresistance, the Extra Life and the Extra Armor one. Maybe even one which increases the Incoming Heal so you can Stay alive longer or one which makes you deal less Damage but you gain more Defensive ( or an increase in dealing Status Effects ) as you loose Health.

The normal one could be like the Man at Arms one now.
Some offensive, some Defensive ones and some with CC.
Like the Boulder that knocks down Enemies.


With this both One Handed and Two Handed Warriors would have a distinctive gameplay.
Also you would have more then one Tree and with this more Skills.
Which Results in the high Warrior cooldown not being such a big Problem anymore.

To Finish this.
A Two Handed Warrior has to skill Two Handed as a Skill for maximum Power.
But one with One Handed + Shield has to skill one handed and Shield.
Which means he has to Spend 30 instead of 15 of his 49 ( without Lonewolf ) Skill Points towards his Weapons.
So to balance it One handed + Shield should be fused to the new Skill called One handed and Shield ^^
