Okay, I have a workaround. Annoying, but it works. I'm not sure how much of this is necessary or what exactly did the trick, but this is what I did:
- Do *not* blow the charge, nor open the gate.
- Use teleport to pull Dreksis out of the cell and kill him outside of it.
- Use teleport/featherfall/summons to put your players/summons into the cell.
- Kill the remainder of the goblins.
- Loot head.
Journal updates successfully and there is no prompt to talk to your companion. All good.

Edit: For the guys who don't have a viable save prior to blowing the charge, something you may try is to simply ignore the exclamations and proceed. While I was sneaking past the knights on my way to the door in the southeast on my rogue, I tried to summon my party via pyramids only to receive a "it doesn't seem to work here". Anyways, since my party was completely split up, I was unable to speak to my companion, I proceeded. After opening the door, the exclamation went away. *shrug* Again, this exclamation was from the pyramids, *not* from blowing the charge. It may have the same effect though.
