I lost the reveal spell that with you could get to Evelyn's Lair. Now I can't open it because I either dropped it somewhere or destroyed it. Is there any way to progress?

Other then waiting for someone to mod the door open or doing that yourself, no.

Before you restart though.. be sure you really dont have it anywhere..
Recheck all inventories, bags and boxes you carry. the bloody thing has a tendency to hide in plain sight.

The magic filter is what reveled it for me last time I misplaced the scroll.

Is this quest crucial or essential for the game?

yea its part of the mysterious murder which u gotta complete if im not wrong.

Damn. Is there any way to get this item by cheating etc? Savegame editing?
