Getting a bit tired of random death of everyone to traps. Yeah, I have no perception characters.

However, I'd be somewhat fine with these occasional deaths if my party weren't follow so closely, and I CBA dragging people off my front character so frequently. I'd just like a good 3m of space so that I'm not automatically losing my whole party to instant death traps that I can't see.

That kind of formation would be useful when looting, or otherwise interacting with a lot of stuff in an area (or moving around trying to talk to a rat, etc).

Maybe invest in a perception character? Your party (for the most part) will automatically avoid a trap as long as it has been detected

Perception is an awful stat for anything else, I avoid it. I'm playing two lone wolf characters that also simply don't have room for perception or the perception talent.

My current strategy now is to just fireball my way through any barrels/chests that could be hiding traps. Since traps are the only thing to've killed me so far I guess I'll just have to go overkill on them.

Maybe for your build, but it has a few solid uses.

Well if you have an archer type character, perception is almost as important as dexterity since without it you'll get enormous accuracy penalties unless the enemy is very close.

Perception is also important for determining how many AP you regain each turn out of your potential max at start of combat.

Oh... and, for the very thing you complained about.. spotting traps. Don't want to step on traps? Invest in some perception. If not, just accept you'll be casting heal / using healing items more often.

Seriously!? Boggles my mind everytime...

Lets see what Perception gives
* Each point (above base 5) gives you an extra 2% crit chance
* Each two points gives 1 extra initiative and starting AP
* Lets you detect traps and find secrets
* Increase long range accuracy

Clearly a very awful stat!

I mean who wants to do extra damage or start as early as possible in a fight or survive all the deadly traps or find extra stuff and secret rooms!?
