Feel it should be easy, but I have a ranger with rogue skills. I use a dagger and attack from behind, but I don't do higher damage or anything. What am I missing?

One: Did you pick up the talent Backstabber (req; scoundrel 1)?
Two: Recently overhauled my ranger entirely for crafting/scoundrel stuff, and I've noticed that she seems to crit even more when attacking from behind. Might be random chance, but could be she gets a bonus or something, and she doesn't have the talent mentioned.

You need to be *very* precisely behind the enemy, then the mouse icon will change over the enemy to a backstab one (this could do with changing in my opinion, to perhaps the rear 90 degree arc of an enemy's facing). Also you must have the Backstabber talent.

There's no inherent bonus to attacking from what one would intuitively consider 'behind' an enemy, you either specifically backstab or don't.

I levelled up and noticed the backstab talent which I hadn't taken, so it solved itself out. Thanks for the help anyway.
