Sometime around the middle of the week, during one of the early post launch patches, I zoned into Black Cove for the first time and then back to Cyseal North Gate, only to notice that the black 'Shroud', as its called, had been reset as if I had never walked around the town...

I also noticed that non-plot related loot boxes, barrels, and room items (such as plates and trade goods) that I knew I had looted or stolen already were available to be looted again...

At first, I was excited! A small bug that didn't break the plot line was allowing me to get rich!!

Then I noticed that battles were also reset. Oh well, I thought, more experience!!

Well... Now I am trying to get around Luc.Forest and having to re-right every trivial encounter, especially those with Lv.14 enemies, just to get from waypoints to transitions is beginning to grow tiresome.

I don't expect there is anything I can do to fix this, but I was still wondering if there was an official repository for bugged saves I can send one to; so someone might figure out if its even worth preventing from happening to anyone else?

I looked around and nothing was obvious.
Thanks.

You can email saves to supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem. For the PC version, the D:OS support tool will create a report.zip file containing system info, etc, as well as your saves.

Unfortunately the tool packs up duplicate profiles of all 20+ saves, resulting in a compressed file size of over 280MB. Not something I can easily email... wink

Should I cut out all but a before(bug) and after(bug) save? As the rest are all quick/auto saves of the same play through.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Yes, you can delete saves from other profiles, etc. Your most recent working save and the oldest broken save would be the most relevant.

Well now, that's interesting.

In an attempt to find a save that wasn't effected, I went back to before the point in the play through that I first noticed the issue and it appears to be retroactively effecting them too. Which leads me to the conclusion that there isn't anything wrong with the saves, and Perhaps something I did in the editor? Which is odd considering I never saved or tried to save.

Time to look harder...

Ssshhhhh, I'm hunting wabbits!

Did you try verifying local files?

Perhaps there is a problem with the main LevelCache folder? Do you have the same problem if you start a new game?

You could try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and renaming the 'Divinity Original Sin' subfolder (containing the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder). Deleting or renaming it will get the game to recreate it on startup; playing the game from a different Windows user account would effectively do the same thing.
After starting the game and creating a new profile, try copying an old save from the renamed folder into the new profile, and see if you have the same problem. I think you would have to restart the game or switch profiles and back to get the save to show up, if you copy it with the game running.

Thanks for those suggestions! I'll get on it and report.

Renaming the Documents('Divinity Original Sin') directory and moving the saves to the newly created profile did the trick.

I tried moving just the new LevelCache to the old directory but it didn't work. So, I replaced the old LevelCache as well as the [config.lsx] and [modsettings.lsx] files. And it works. The old directory is restored via the new Cache and those two files.

Thanks again for the help! I was concerned I'd break something else if I had tried to do it without your suggestion. Was contemplating re-installing. But this was so much less time consuming. wink
