I finished most of the first area (minus the orc stuff, and the Braccus fight because HOLY CRAP! how am I supposed to kill him plus 3 bosses all at once?). And decided to wander into the fire area for the first time. I hadn't gotten any quests for it yet, but ended up killing the big fire boss and totem thingy. Were there some quests I missed?

Nope, it's just an area you can clear

I would've definitely finished Cyseal before Braccus though, he's sort of your Act 1 boss. I think I was level 10 by then?

The Burning Legion is connected to the main story of the Cysael area. To investigate it is a quest given to you by legion Commander and on the way there you should meet two undead who were legion soldiers which will tell you a nice little story.

Furthermore it is indirectly tied to the murder quest and connected to it.

While it is directly tied to the Undead siege of Cysael quest chain.


Talking to NPCs and reading what they say is good thing to do in this game.
