Many skills indicate that they allow a weapon to do greater damage: “Spear does 5+10 extra damage” is an example.
I had assumed that the “+” was actually a “_” (Spear does 5-10 [a random number from 5 to 10] extra damage)
However, shield expertise says things like “Succesful shield bash yields 24+20 damage”
So, what does the “+” refer to? If it is actually 5+10 damage, why not just say “15 damage”?

My thanks for any clarification.

First of all, welcome to the forum, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

5 + 10 extra damage would mean a spell or weapon inflicts 5-15 damage upon an enemy.

24 + 20 extra damage = 24-44 damage.

The first number represents the minimum number of damage a spell or weapon inflicts on an enemy when there is a successful hit. The two numbers, when added together, tell you the maximum amount of damage a spell or weapon is capable of.

Thanks.
