Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - General Chain Lightning skillbook at vendor?

Has anyone been able to find a Chain Lightning skillbook at the vendor in Cyseal? Or is this spell companion-only?

I've been savescumming for awhile, and it has yet to appear...

PS: please make each vendor stock one of each skillbook

The game will only show you skill books within a range of the character's level. If that's the case, how are you savescumming for the vendor?

The vendor refreshes inventory when your main characters level up, so you'd have to, say, save before getting a quest reward that levels you up and then get the reward and check the vendor for reach reload.

If that's what you are doing and you still aren't having any luck... make sure you check vendors other than Cylia? Depending on where you are in the game a few vendors sell random skill books as well.

Actually when you level up, you can keep rolling vendor stocks as long as you have not talked to him/her/it yet for that new level. You can test this by leveling up, sitting in front of a vendor (but not talking to him/her yet), quicksaving it, finally checking the NPC's store, then quickloading.

Also some spells/skills can only be bought at certain NPCs

and like the person said above, some skills will simply not show up if you are not high enough level yet
