Hello everyone, like many of you i am enjoying Larian's latest baby named Original Sin, but today i want to ask you something about Divinity 2 developers Cut.

I love the game, let that be clear. I was just wondering if there is a way to increase the render distance for shadows further ?

The way i see it now is that you have an enormous viewing distance, but you have a very ugly line running down the screen that indicates where the shadows are drawn and where not. It is really distracting (to me anyway).

So are there any visual tweaks you can apply to the divinity 2 engine ? A sort of ini file somewhere you can edit etc ...

The only thing that you can edit is atm the graphicoption.xml in your Profile folder (User/Appdate/Local/Divinity 2/Profile). I thought also that I could edit the render distance for shadows and so on, but the xml file only shows the ingame changeable settings, not the engine settings. The settings.dv2 file COULD contain something with the engine, but in fact that it is encrypted, it's nearly impossible to modify it without the tools.

But in general, it's a shame that we can't mod it Larian don't give us some tools. I've seen the Making of video... but that's how it's going.

PS: There's a fanmade tool for Ego Draconis, but I'm not sure if it's still available - it's still available. With this tool you could decrypt also some gamefiles, but NOT the gamefiles of the newer versions - the game files are packed, like zip files though there are encrypted .xml files in the .dv2 files.

PPS: Found 2 files on a site (link will be back later, I'll keep ya up to date). I'm going to test them now - Result: they are only working with ED.

Edit1: Going to start modding now... let's see how far I can go
Edit2: Looks like you need also an editor for the gamebryo file format, i'll keep you up 2 date.

Updates:
1: Looking now for the engine settings, will take some time.
2: Going to get some information about the file format, this will maybe take some days/weeks/months, but I won't give up :P

General update: I'm done. I've found a way to mod it, but I can't post it uneless I know that I wouldn't get a penalty so it will probably take a while (Btw. I found it much earlier but did forget it and now I remembered when i was cleaning some stuff on my HDD).

Greetings

There is no problem posting mods or information about modding the game.

Ok, thanks for the answer =)

Here is the link to a forum's post in which you have some explanations how to mod the stuff and which tools you need: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8822
