okay so apparently i need to stop this so i can unlock the last 2 rooms. chapel and forbidden zone so that i can get through the door and complete the trial of ascension. so how do i go about stopping the attack on the homestead please?

I don't think can unlock forbidden zone. Hence the name, I think that zone is joke by Larian which is why all the party animals go there. As for homestead attack the place need to go is north just past the spider area on second location you visit (Luculla region), the lava area at the northern part of map there is crystal need to destroy.
