After playing D:OS for about 25 hours so far, my main thought is "This is the closest experience to playing D&D that I've had with any computer RPG." From the combat to the story freedom and the character sheet mechanics, D:OS truly feels like a pen & paper game on the computer. That was, of course, a large part of Larian's goal.
D:OS is a computerized pen & paper. But, am I the only one who would love to see a truly pen & paper version of D:OS? The combat and roleplaying mechanics would work perfectly well offline, using paper character sheets, dice, and a gaming mat. As I think through the features, I can't really think of one that wouldn't work while sitting at a table with friends.
I don't think Larian is planning on it, but they could really make a tabletop version of their game if they wanted to. I'd definitely buy it. If they don't do it, I'm sure they wouldn't mind some modders creating it if they distributed it for free.
So, is anyone else interested in this? Would you like to play Divinity: Original Sin at the table with your friends? Are any of you already working on writing a ruleset and player's handbook? If not, can we please get an effort to do so moving?
