As I played through Divinity Original Sin this was the single most frustrating aspect of the game for me. Loot did not feel like it progressed at all, boss fights did not drop any particularly strong items, and most of my best pulls came from a random barrel that just happened to generate a blue with the stats I needed.

I'm not looking to turn this into a discussion of the current loot system however. I am just looking for any tips or places to start in regards to the items. Any special editing programs I need or how to use the Divinity Engine to manipulate the loot scripts and database. Thanks in advance for your help!

Unpack main.pak with the utility program in the sticky, you'll find .xlsm files. Open them in excel and you generate raw text files with All.xlsm, after editing any of the other .xlsm files. Put these raw .txt files in a folder structure for your mod and share.

The .xlsm files are all flat files so it should be straight forward. The spreadsheets are all interwoven.

I THINK you need to start a new game for changes to take effect.

Thank you. That was extremely helpful.
Text file uploaded here - http://speedy.sh/SC46U/TreasureTable.txt

How do you get it into your game data?

Changelog

Bosses have an increased payout.
Rings are more common than amulets now, you got one necklace slot and two fingers amirite?
Secondary gear such as boots and bracers more common
Increased rarity (slightly) accross the board and elites and bosses will drop more loot in general
Rare drops now have a 10% chance of being Legendary
Uncommon have a 25% chance to be Rare (Increase of 5%)
Random Loot is now less Junk

No changes to shops or containers specifically.
Considering making Lucky much more worth the investment of skill points.

Question. There is a drop item called Precious referenced in the tables but I cannot find an item detailing what this is or values for it, does anyone know?

A lot of the excel stuff just isn't known. Like, is 'Sourcery' the internal keyname for Witchcraft? Is Blackrock the internal name for Tenebrium?

To get them into your game, you need to know the file structure. Get lstools and investigate Main.pak.

I know the file structure, do I recreate the same file structure I.E. add in folders into Data\Public\Main or do I recreate the Main.pak file with the updated files?

I'm following this with interest, as my current goal is to drop one specific item in to an existing save game without needing to restart. Specifically, the reveal scroll needed for a certain quest. Many people are losing or misplacing this item hours before the quest comes up, and it would be good to have a solution that wasn't restarting your whole game.

Can anyone post a mod which effects a single item in the main campaign? Be it actually introducing a unique item or changing the mod values around?

Every single edit I've made so far of Armor.xlsm, Weapon.xlsm, and DeltaModifiers.xlsm has created a "trying to add boost to boostgroup, but no current boostgroup?" error in the "messages" part of the editor on level load. Is this /normal/? I don't want to make a bunch of item modifications, start a new game, and then realize they aren't working at all. There's nothing indicating my item mod changes are taking effect and that at least according the editor I'm doing something wrong. Right now, I'm only changing Armor.xlsm and Deltamodifiers.xlsm. This happens even when I delete EVERYTHING from Generated and generate all again and even when I only modify existing DeltaModifiers.

You can get the file from this site by just clicking the name at the top [Linked Image]

I haven't tried yet but using the modified main mod which you can get Here, putting the file in Data\Public\Modified_Main_9b125d2b-c4a0-4107-bd38-d0d6bdbcbb4b\Stats\TreasureTable.txt should in theory work.

So i was hoping that you would give Lucky Charm a greater benefit in finding more items. That way it would give a greater chance to get gear for your desired build.

And are there any conformations that the mod works with that test folder refered to.

This information is coming from one tester on one (starting) playthrough. Blazing through the intro bit of the game to level 4 (maybe 2 hours) and looting a ton of stuff I have received 1 legendary level 4 item. In previous playthroughs I don't recall having seen a single legendary before level 6-8ish. A good portion of the loot seems to be either blues or greens and several have required loremaster 2 to identify (which has also not been the case in previous playthroughs). It also seems I'm getting more rings as accesories rather than amulets everywhere. So on my end I'd say it's working but, the loot in this game IS randomly generated so I could just be getting very lucky. I'm leaning towards it working though.

does it seem like more is dropping or is it just higher quality? Cause i meant increase the drop rate with lucky charm so you have a greater chance of getting gear for they way you want to build seeing as the loot is random.

Ok mate i hope this work, i downloaded the empty mod which i put on my data folder. I then went to the Public\Modified_Main_9b125d2b-c4a0-4107-bd38-d0d6bdbcbb4b\ but it only had one folder there RootTemplates which was empty, so i created alongside it a folder named stats and put the txt file there.

Is that the way i should do it?

Honestly, I didn't get too far in but yes, gear seems easier to come by in general. It's the first time I managed to get out of cyseal with everyone in level appropriate (level 4) gear without buying any. Of course I looted more (read: every box and/or barrel along the way) to see what effect this mod was having. I'll probably play for a while today as well so I'll give some more feedback when I've got a chance later on.

Yep, this should work as well with previous saves if you follow the information in the link I posted, boiling that down because I know it's a wall of text:

Save your main game (I.E. I named mine main)
Install the mod (you CAN do this first just don't actiate it in the menu)
Activate the mod in the main menu
Make a new game and save as soon as you have control(I named this one Temp).
Find your saves, should be something like Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin\PlayerProfiles\<PorfileName>\Savegames
copy the Temp.lsb from inside the temp folder over to the Main folder.
Backup your Main.lsb (just rename it to Main.lsb.bak or something)
Rename Temp.lsb to Main.lsb and viola, you can now load your original saved game with the mod active.

i must just have absolutely horrible luck then because i don't really see a difference in gear. The mod is in the proper location because the other 2 i have are working.

I don't know if this is something that has recently changed but in my save files that I named temp and main, there is no main.lsb or temp.lsb. the save folders have 3 lsb files in them named globals.lsb, meta.lsb, and sanity.lsb. So do I move meta or globals?
