As there isnt a suggestions section yet for Original Sin, i figured this would be the next best bet. I have some old-school UT modding experience so Im not putting my hopes up for this as it would probably require changes outside the scope of what regular modding could achieve, but i thought it an interesting idea either way.
I was trying to think of a way to expand on role-playing aspects when having conversations during co-op play, and i thought to myself that it would make for some pretty powerful rp if the person you're playing with could somehow take the reigns when talking with npcs while the first player simply controls the heroes. If this were done through the normal dialog interface it would mean opening it up for text input to both players, or through the local chat box, though this would mean that the regular npc chat interface would have to be disabled or heavily modified.
This eventually leads into other modifications that could empower the second player to run the game of sorts.
Essentially, if the second player could be given a different interface that allows placing npcs/enemies/loot/traps onto a map in real-time... you'd end up with a pretty sick virtual tabletop setup no?
It might not seem so different than a well designed campaign to most people, but i think it would allow for more organic and surprising gameplay, especially with all the custom maps that will eventually be made. A DM for instance, could craft the general framework for a campaign on paper, but given the unpredictable nature of people they could compensate with events that truly captivate the player as the game unfolds.
Too much to ask from the modding tools on hand?
