I have noticed a couple of things occurring in the game for which I have no explanation. I was wondering whether they are just random oddities, or if there is some logic behind them.

1) Double experience.
Sometimes when I kill a monster, the experience points display twice, one above the other. I had saved before killing a big Orc, just to see what kinds of treasure he would drop. The first, second and fourth times I killed him, I received approx. 21,000 exp. The third time, the green 21,000 score appeared twice. I checked my total exp for both before and after, and was surprised to see I had been awarded 42,000 exp for this kill.

At the risk of looking a gift horse (gift bug?) in the mouth, I wonder why this is occurring.

2) Huge prices for pretty normal weapons.
I have come across several weapons that are pretty mundane, but which sell for huge prices. Two examples: (The prices of both these items came from Geoff's)

a) [nocando] Sword of Warriors: 12/12, wt. 120, dam. 27-65, requires same str. and agil. to use as regular [nocando] sword, no other specials (besides my sword skill bonuses) Basically just a plain old [nocando] sword. The price I was charged was 43,982 gp.

b) Brutal Long Bow of the Thief: 10/10, wt. 80, dam. 8-99, +3 offense, repeat time 15, same str. and agil. req. as regular long bow. Price I was paid for it was 24,462 gp.

Any thoughts as to why this might be happening? Perhaps the weapons have some hidden, but pretty staggering bonuses???

History of the mysterious "Experience Bomb".

There are some modifiers on items which can increase the price, but are otherwise useless; just sell them when you find them, and don't bother buying them thinking they might be something special.

Thank-you Raze. Your concise answers provide excellent clarification, which adds greatly to my gaming enjoyment.

About prices:

I have:

A Ring of Fighters

The thing sells for about 28000 gold.

Now, why?

It has absolutely no enchantments on it. Doesn't increase anything as far as I can see.

If there are no enhancements listed in the description when you move your cursor over it, it is just an expensive piece of jewelry. The same thing happens (less often) with other equipment.

An interesting find in the wastelands, worth 50,000 gold. Don't ask me why...

Oddly, sometimes the merchants would pay a huuge amount of money for relatively "normal" weapons and other items. Don't ask me why, I don't have an answer for this (and anyone else here, too, I guess).

I'm afraid to say that I think that is a boo boo. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
