Fellow divinity Mac users.

First of all Raze, please use this post as reference for any bug-reports and questions. The information here is definite, up to point and quite bitter.

Second, please accept our sincere apology with the saves situation. We do understand that we might severely displeased you or hampered your game experience. The issue as we see it now stretches far beyond QA, developers and OS X. Looks like we have quite an issue with Steam interfering with saves as well. But still, hands down - we take the hit.

So first of all, do not panic, but other than that....

* There is a pretty high chance that your new saves (*.lsv) are in corrupted state, especially if you played Divinity when Steam cloud was still active
* If you can't see your save or can't load your new save (*.lsv) - it's a prime candidate for trash. It's damaged beyond repair
* All your old saves should be fine
* Starting from .78 we don't save in new format - we use old format again, both for Mac & Win
* If your game crashes on startup all of a sudden - the prime suspect should be .lsv save from yesterday
* If your new save file loads fine, then it's fine and you should not re-save it

Once again, sorry for all this mess. We will keep working on new save format and will enable it in future.

Adding tech. info for anyone who care. If you want to 100% be sure whether your .lsv file is OK or corrupted open it in any hex editor (Midnight Commander, 0xED, ...) and check file beginning. You should clearly see file names there, like Global.lsb f.ex. If you only see sanity.lsb there - save is corrupted.

If you see that your saves have been corrupted and you want to help us with understanding this issue better, please open Terminal, use

cd ~/Documents/Larian\ Studios/

and

ls -Rl@ > mysaves.info

commands. Please submit mysaves.info file to supportdos@larian.com with note: Attn: OS X .lsv corruption/directory listing.

frown I lost all my progress from yesterday. At least i didn't erase my other save, so i won't curse you for now.

I don't understand where is the relevant information in that listing but i'll send it to you.

Should I delete the corrupted files/folders?

I am so furious about this. I just lost days of gameplay. I can't believe you guys would make a mistake like this - bought early and have been recommending this game to everyone too.

Opened my saves with hex edit as suggested - all saves after July 10th are corrupted.

Is there any possibility they can be recovered? Don't want to replay my last 10 hours.
