I'm really enjoying the game so far, but I have an itch to re-roll my chars and start from the beginning due to some silly stat choices (read: terrible, horrible, abysmal mistakes) I've made during my vanilla playthrough.

Now, I'm wondering if there's any way to increase the amount of bonus stat points the game lets you distribute during character generation? I think the default setting is something like +4, and I'd like to increase this up to around +8 or so... yeah, technically it's cheating, but I'm not a fan of painfully slow early game masochism. horsey

I know it's possible to buff all stats across the board using a modified 'Character.txt', but the problem with that approach is that the stats you increase become 'locked', that is, you can't drop a character's strength score under, say, 7, if you specified it as 7 in 'Character.txt' (I tried, and the game wouldn't let me lower the stats to anything under what was specified in the modified .txt). Ideally, I'd like to keep the default values at 5 (as per the vanilla settings), and then freely distribute the 8 or so additional points as I like, depending on the type of char I'm making.

On a similar note, is it possible to increase the number of skill and talent points as well? If memory serves, new characters get +2 points to use on talents, and +5 to distribute across skills (not entirely sure about the exact values, but I think it's somewhere in the vicinity). The reason I want to buff this as well is because I'd like to take things like bartering and crafting as well as some role playing talents without actually gimping my characters' damage potential.

Ideally, I'd like to simulate something along a D&D-esque character generation.

So, any and all help would be most appreciated! thankyou

Actually I did this, as my first mod.
It sets the Ability Points to 11, Attribute points to 9, and the Talents you start with to 3.
However, for whatever reason, the characters dont want to follow each other if you use this mod, and I have yet to figure out why. So use it at your own risk.

It's linked here if you want to use it.

Damn, that sounds exactly like what I need, but the follow bug is just too much of a hassle to play with... Pity, really. Have you had any luck with modding just a single property and then testing that? Like, say, messing around with just Perception?

There's got to be a reason why the game is bugging out.

Btw, I read through your thread - kudos on typing out that detailed description of your work process!

P.S./Edit: Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to shoot a PM to one of the more knowledgeable mod members around here? I've skimmed some of the other threads in the mod section, and a couple of the guys posting there really seem to know their stuff!
