Running games in Wine is all well and good, but a proper Linux copy of the game is preferable. The game runs nearly flawlessly, but I have one friend who clearly has no interest in playing the game with Wine, and who clearly isn't going to be playing in Windows (its been even longer since she has used Windows then I have). I'm mostly interested in the time so that I can play with here before I beat the game.

Doesn't Steam software allow you to play the game on Linux? I really don't use steam that much, just for the beta. However that is one of the main perks it is suppose to have.

Steam only has Linux play for games that support it. Currently, D:OS does not support Linux, even on Steam. However, if you have a Windows machine on your home network, you can stream the game to your Linux machine. My dad is playing the game on his Linux laptop by streaming from a Windows desktop.

I only have one computer, and I can play this game well enough with Wine. The issue is actually my friend who doesn't care enough to set it up. I've offered to do it for her, but it hasn't happened.

Linux support was never promised, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

No, but it was mentioned enough that I'll be greatly disappointed, and a bit angry, if we don't get a Linux version, especially since my sound just went out.

[edit] Actually, with a bit of search, they promised it:

Confirmed: Coming to Linux & Mac!

It's about time, but we are extremely happy to announce that Divinity: Original Sin will now definitely be coming to Mac & Linux. We will do everything we can to ensure that the release dates are going to coincide with the Windows PC release, but if that doesn't happen, it will be shortly after.

I'm also waiting for the Linux release, and some even rough ETA would be helpful.

No, it was actually promised in some way during the KS campaign.

I can't say I saw it officially stated (then again, I don't follow Twitter or FB, or whatever other social media they may use), I simply saw it referenced by others here on the forums. Take it with a grain of salt, I suppose.

No updates from Larian on this? OS X version is out already, and they promised the Linux one shortly after.
