What is the significance of the prices? I have 11 scorpion traps that are worth 17 gold each and all weigh 20 pounds each. I have 4 more that are worth 425 each and they also weigh 20 pounds each. What's the difference?

There is no difference. Some items have buggy prices. Some people have seen simple items sell for 5 digits. Sell the expensive ones is my advice.
I could have been very happy not knowing that.

It also depends on the trader and how many times you've traded with him, etc. It's not a fixed price, it varies accordingly. [grins evilly] Sell them all, personally I've never found any good use for them

I like Scorpion traps. They help in a tight pinch. But unless I want to AoC them and only get half the XP on their kills, they do run off. I don't keep many of those traps, and I put the remaining ones in my stash and carry 2.

I really hate tose things they make the game so easy they spoil all the fun. Those things are Lv.100 only on the first level thats just too much.

Most of the time I didn't use them myself. But for the tough battles, my minion-less Survivor would pull out a scorpion trap to help. I mean battles like with Iona's pet. What is with her name, by the way? In the castle she was Elona. Outside she is Iona. Was that an alias?

How do you use the scorpion traps? Can I use it against Josephina?

First, you need to find or buy the actual traps (scorpion, trail bomb, egg), then you need the Survivor's skill Deadly Gift. When you select the Deadly Gift skill, a menu will pop up showing the available traps in your inventory, select one. Now when you right click, you will release a trap of the selected type (scorpions being the most popular).
You can use scorpions on Josephine.

Talking about buggy prices... I found this bow "<some> bow of Angels" which was just an ordinary (blue) bow with no charms and no extra skills and average damage and the blacksmith wanted to give me 30K for it. Hehe, stupid me, I thought it had special powers to I used up half of its life and now I can only sell it for 15K and it costs something like 15K to fix it!! I think I'll just sell the remaining bow .

there's parts where the damn scorpions are absolutly esential. my level 12 survivor wouldn't off gotten his gear back after being locked in the dungeon with out the scorpions. plust how else would a level 6 survivor take out the damn vampire in the cave to rescue the little boy? the bastard laughed at my bull dagger.
if practice makes perfect but no ones perfect then why even bother?

Hehe, my survivor is level 18 and still haven't finished the vampire cave . I guess it all depends on your level. If you do everything slowly (finishing all the quests and cleaning out small areas) then you should have enough experience/skills to not need scorpions in a fight. I do use them sometimes when I get swarmed by tough creatures.

Dont forget the mighty trail bombs. one of those can set a whole line of mines. Favourite is to run around get all of them to follow me. usually they wll walk in a line. then set the trail bombs across the whole screen right to the end of the queue. BOOM! instant level up for juz one trail bomb.

I agree that they can be absurdly powerful, but like Luna, I use them on hard mobs. I have only used them twice and one was on Josephina who I simply cannot kill without them because of her spell resistance. ( I am a mage) Poison is her weakness. Hence, I used the trap. I used it a second time on another hard mob to keep him from wiping his bum with me while I took out his dwarven helpers. Other than hard mobs, I dont use them. They are very powerful. I would suggest not totally counting them out though
