Is there a way to change a character's facing without moving from the current position?

Good question. I note that the enemies can do this I have on many occasions lined up my rogue for a backstab, hit once only to have the mob turn and face my rogue, so that the next hits are just normal hits, which is not really fair.

Enemies don't use backstab, so it's currently irrelevant for anything but a cosmetic reason.

I'm not sure that there is actually a way to change it without moving.

If they're non-hostile, you can split your team and get one of them to engage them in conversation while the other one gets up to something devious out of sight.
