Okay, I'm going slow and taking my time, so I'm only to Alfie right now (well, a little past, but I've come back to him). However, I can't seem to figure out how to heal Alfie. My understanding is that I need to use a bloodstone (which I have one from the Black Cove still), but I can't determine how to use it to heal him. What am I doing wrong?

I've tried talking to him/his owners. I've tried dropping it and doing the same. I even tried throwing it at him, but that just initiated a fight. Help?

Talk to Alfie, the Conversation will drop a Bloodstone
A Video, maybe it helps: http://wiiare.in/spiele-tipps/divinity-original-sin-quests/an-a-mount-of-healing-magic/.

If you missing bloodstones, try here

The game probably doesnt recognize the Black Cove stone for that purpose.
You have to find another, new one and then you will get the option to use it through the dialogue.

But actually, this should be reported so the devs enable this option with BC stone too.

As I already mentioned, I have a bloodstone and I've tried talking to all of them. Perhaps it's a bug, then. If so, no wonder I couldn't get it to complete.

I used the Black Cove blood stone on Alfie. I am pretty sure of that.

However, it *must* be the character that carries the stone in the inventory that does the talking. Did you check that is the case?

Hmm, I'm fairly confident that was the case, but I'll double-check. In any event, I'll have to wait now, since I just used the bloodstone for the rot cleansing in the Immaculate quest.

I actually used the BS from black cove. I talked to alfie before doing the black cove though. Dunno if that's the reason I healed him this way.

I did the black cove before moving to the Lucilla map so I don't think the ordering has anything to do with it.

I cant check that myself now but it would be appropriate and nice if the game would recognize and allow this.

Maybe you talked with Alfie with a wrong character as Jacob said.

using the BS from black cove to heal alfie works! but you have to give it to a companion that has the Pet Pal talent, otherwise you can't talk to him.

Actually talking (via pet pal) with Alfie is not required, you can try to heal him, fail and then use a blood stone on him and the quest should work.

oh, woops. i could have sworn the first time i played i couldn't talk to him without that talent. my bad.

i retried it and didn't heal him since i didn't want to lose the rep. i just exited the dialogue and reopened it with whoever was holding the stone. it worked fine.
