Hi all. I have been playing the game for about 42 hours now and thought I would just post what I have found so far and ask a few questions that I have about some of the systems/stats in the game.
First off, I have largely enjoyed my time so far, and my overall impressions have been positive. It is not perfect, and there is lots that I am not keen on, but overall the general quality of the game is enough to overcome my issues. The few issues I do have with it that I wondered what you all think are:
Stealing- It is too easy, and the economy is far too simplistic to accommodate it...I can steal a painting and then sell it to the owner a few seconds later. Also, I can sell rare weapons and armour to pretty much anyone. This breaks immersion for me and I wondered about the chances of it being changed at all through a patch or even a mod?
Personalities and Rock, Paper, Scissors- It is ok with NPCs but I am not a fan when my two characters do it between themselves tbh. I like the idea of the personalities, but atm they are too inconsistent and can lead to things that don't make much sense. Also, a question about Rock, Paper, Scissors- I notice that sometimes I have different stats and I wondered if someone could break it down for me. For example, In an argument with one person, my character might have 5 points charisma, in another with somebody else a few seconds later the same character might have just 2 or 3 points charisma. There must be some kind of stat I am not getting.
Star Stones- I have been told that I can miss out on rooms in the Homestead by using them wrongly or missing out. Is this true?...any advice?
Crafting- Is there much point in getting in to it?...I never craft in RPGs,as I much prefer to use gear I find or buy, but I have a few points in it for arrow crafting. Is there any kind of plan to make it a bit more accessible? as atm I find it a bit tedious tbh.
Anyway, looking forward to getting on with the game over the next few days as I am off work. Atm, it is heading for around 7.5-8/10 for me. This is very nearly excellent.
Thanks for any advice and insight you might be able to offer

Stealing A lot of people agree with you. It will most likely be modded sooner or later. Personalities and RPS Every time you win at RPS you get a certain number of points. First person to 10 points wins. The base number of points you get depends on your Charisma. Higher Charisma = more points per win. This number is then modified by what choice you picked (Intimidate, Charm, Reason). One of the choices is 'wrong' and lowers your number. One of the choices is 'right' and increases it. One is neutral. I can't personally verify, but I've been told that if you have a high enough Perception, the game tells you which choice is correct. Star Stones I don't think there's any wrong way to use them. You will find Blood Stones, which (when you use them) turn into inert stones. You NEED to use them in order to unlock more rooms. Crafting Crafting is super confusing in this game (I recommend just looking up a list of recipes). That said, it can also be VERY strong. You can play without it, or you can play with it. It's worthwhile, but not necessary.

Crafting/Blacksmithing can turn your fighter into an unstoppable killing machine... This isn't even hyperbole. You don't have to game the system, or use wonky mechanics, or rely on glass cannon. You just change your characters name to "He Upon Whom Death No Longer Holds Lease" and call it a day.

Lol. I'm not sure I'd go that far. It definitely greatly improves your current gear, but oftentimes I would rather have the stat boosts from legendaries, than the extra armor / base damage from crafted stuff.

Thank you dirigible. That all makes sense. One more thing about conversation choices though- am I right in taking from that, that whether you choose intimidate, reason or charm determines how many points you have to spend based on your charisma stat, with different options working for different npcs?... For example, trying to intimidate a strong NPC might give you 3 points to play with, meaning intimidation is much less likely to work, whereas trying to charm them would give you say, 8 points making it the better choice?...and it is different for each NPC?
That is actually pretty good if true, and a bit deeper than I realised.

What dirigible said.
and,
RPS - is primarily made for co-op mutiplayer gameplay, where the other Source Hunter is controlled by someone else. You should try it, its great fun and substantially alters how the game plays.
I dont mind it happening when im playing solo because it increases the feel of me playing with two different characters.
Star Stones - you will find plenty. They are relatively hard to miss once you find the first few ones and get familiar with the general gist of it.

That is actually pretty good if true, and a bit deeper than I realised. To the best of my knowledge, yes. The 'correct' option depends on who you're talking to, and the context of the situation. I personally wind up savescumming because I can't usually deduce which one is correct, but I think that is how it works. So example: you get 2 points from beating your opponent in RPS, +2 more points from ranks in Charisma, but -1 point because you chose the wrong option. So every time you win you get 3 points. Meaning you have to win 4 times.
