I've spoken to the cat. Freed the wizards helpers from the jail
and poisoned the cheese. But when i put the cheese down and kill a rat, nothing happens except that my journal updates with a text saying that all the rats are hiding from me and i need to find a way to draw the rats out of their holes..

I must've reloaded 10+ times now trying to do it different ways and nothing helps.

Is this a known bug or am i missing a step, like talking to someone?.

I just killed the ratcatcher, surprisingly there was no commotion and nobody else turned on me for it. You can still proceed with the quest and help the family escape. It took a while for me but eventually when I returned to the area after bouncing around and completing all sorts of quests I ended up finding the rat king and I killed his behind too.

Could it be that you need to kill the ratcatcher for the Ratking to activate?, makes sence.

That shouldn't be the case because I'm fairly sure I got the message that the ratking appeared before I killed the ratcatcher although I couldn't see him anywhere at the time.

Nono, I killed the ratcatcher much later. If you put down the poisoned cheese, and the ratking doesnt spawn after the rats are poisoned, try clicking on rat Palace in some cellar, that's where he is after your first summon of him.

I just killed two random rats outside, near a rathole, and the king appeared right after. smile
Didn't use any poisoned cheese or whatnot.

I just got threw this...

1.) Start the quest by talking to the cat.
2.) Craft poisonous cheese (barrel and cheese should do it or a poison potion and cheese)
3.) Place poisoned cheese at any hole and watch them DIE
4.) Rat King will spawn and carry on about murdering his subjects. It really does piss him off smile
5.) Attack rat king by casting a spell on him or holding CTRL and clicking on him. *WARNING* He will become upset over this.

The rats should run out and die, spawning the Rat King. If you talk to him, he'll ask you to visit the Rat Palace in the tavern basement. There you can spawn him and talk to him.

You fight the rat king by attacking him. For me I had a glitch that made him invulnerable to attack and had to put the game on easy to make him vulnerable. All my damage was doing 0 until changing the game setting.

This is pretty much what stopped me playing until the next patch comes out, games is just too full of bugs for me to deal with.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

Yeah, my progress, has been slow too, because all the bugs, wich "bug" me out. It's a good game, but its extremely unpolished. It's supposed to be open, but I feel if you don't do Everything in the exact right order came will bug, or you will miss out on quest/rewards.

I also Think there should have been more info on crafting from the beginning, and the process should have been streamlined, combining stuff involves too much moving around your inventory, its a pain in the..butt.

There should be a crafting page, when you've learned recipes, where you just select Craft a particular item, wich will be crafted if you have the materials. Same for enchantinging

You need to kill a rat first, THEN use the cheese. You probably need a second poisoned cheese if that's your first kill.

Also, 0 damage on the king is NO BUG. He has 100% resistance to all magic damage. So either lower his resistances or use physical damage.

I killed 2 rats near a rathole and the ratking appeared. Never poisoned any cheese or anything else.
