Hey all! Just started doing a fairly large level design project. Most of the screenies are actually of the smaller island among the two. The project doesn't really have any triggers, scripts or any of that stuff. It's all just pure environment.

Here are some screenies.

Here's the massing of the second island which is really basic at the moment. The larger island will contain the main town of the entire project.

Looks great, totally jealous on your texturing skills !

Can you give a rough estimate on how much time you spend on it sofar ?

Well considering I've lost.. almost all of it like twice.. I really can't say anymore. The first time I did it it took me 20 hours. Second was around 10. I'm definitely getting faster again. I actually just lost all of the textures, that last picture with the second island is the most recent picture.

Edit: I actually have a texturing cheat sheet if you want it. There are three 'sets' at the moment.

Beach
Beach-Coastal Forest Transition
Coastal Forest

They're fairly complicated but if you do it step by step it should be fine.

Anything that would help me learn texturing like a pro is appreciated.

I can use anything. About losing your progress, I suggest looking into a versioning control system. Since you are the only one working on a project it might work for you. Either git or svn will do the trick.

Thanks for the suggestion with the control system. So far I've just been trying to just copy the files into another folder. When I replaced the files everything was there except the textures. I don't know why though.

Very nice, your areas have smooth transitions between the different textures. I like it.

This is by far the smoothest and most detailed terrain design I've seen so far. I really love how you considered the 'transition' spaces in between the coast and the woodland area. I'm gonna be checking on this from time to time. Hope you make an area that has buildings this time though.

Do you think you'll be making different settings for the other island? I just used the ones you posted and they work wonders.

I'm jelly, your map is beautiful, mine is flat and awkward looking, haha.
