better late than never. better multiple patches than totally broken. better quiet than hype.

Yes, but there is a whole range between quiet and hype. Quiet is no good. nobody knows you are making a game so nobody will buy it.
Noisy is better, loud in some occasions.

Hype does wonders for a publisher that is in the business to make money. They sell a lot of games <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And if it falls short of the expectations everybody blames the developer, who didn't even create the hype to begin with.

That would depend on the developer. There are a few developers out there who are little more than hype producers.

NWN would've been nice had it not for the hype that chokes it. C&C tiberian sun would've been great had it not for the devs hyping it way 2 much long before the game was properly implemented.
