Oh wow. Mind equals blown. Yesterday's news, TODAY, in VIDEO FORM!

Kid, this was a known thing for ages, people are lobbying Larian HARD to put a kibosh on it, too. It's literally been known for WEEKS. And did we really need a video?

Here, I'll save you three and a half minutes of tongue-tied mumbling with this, you ready?

"Teller of Secrets in the Homestead sells books that give you +1 Attribute point and +1 Skill point. Her inventory will restock every time you level, letting you buy these books over and over and possibly max out your stats."

I'll even throw in this one for free:

"For maximum effect, try to collect 4 blood/star stones as quickly as possible without gaining too many levels."

BOOYAH! You better sit down now.

God, I love clipping wings from wannabe youtoob stars...

This bug was supposed to be fixed in the last patch, but it didn't work. It probably won't be addressed again until the developers return in early August from their vacation.

Correction; +1 Attribute point and +3 Skill points.

And yes, it was supposed to be fixed, but wasn't. Expect it to be gone the next "big patch" (so not hotfix, though looking at the time since the last I expect the big patch to be the next).

There's a much better guide over in the section of the forums where guides go.
This is not where guides go. =P

Why wait when you can just mod it so that you can access the Secret vendor at Level 1?

Why mod in something to reach the Seller of Secrets instantly than just mod in an infinite skill and attributes mod (through clicking something or so, or just giving a bunch).

That's why ironically I'm not a big fan of mods... while there are some pearls out there, most just offer cheats, or extremely overpowered gear (still considered cheats IMO).

Did Larian state something officially about those books being available at each level?
I'd love to know how many they've planned in their game design so I could stick to it without breaking the game balance.

They are not supposed to regenerate, there is only supposed to be one of each in the entire game.

It was patched, but it didn't work as it seems, I could still buy the books every time I leveled up.

IMO it would most sense to have 2 of each; one for each PC (especially since with co-op, it can make an argument who gets the books, and that could be evaded that way)...

But yeah, definitely not 1 of each per level.

And I just state that, load the game, resolve a puzzle, and find that there's indeed a second copy in the game without cheating...

The final chest has both books inside

EDIT: And then of course a 3rd abilitybook shows up... yeah, plenty enough left once they fix it...

I wouldn't call this isn't an exploit. This video is just going off to play which winds up really doing nothing but reloading a merchant's inventory.

An exploit would be along the lines of buying and using the book. Saving then Exiting and reloading the game and buying the book again, then repeating that over and over.

Having to level in between each use isn't an exploit.

You have a character modifying book that is not supposed to respawn. We know this because the developers have stated it. However, it is respawning.

That is a bug.

Knowing it is a bug and purchasing additional copies of the book that you know shouldn't be there is exploiting that bug.

How much that really matters in a single player game that can be modded is debatable, but it still is what it is. You can call it abusing a known bug, exploiting a known bug, taking advantage of a known bug, intentionally reaping the benefits of a known bug, etc.. it's all the same. Nobody can claim they're just "playing the game as it was intended" once they know the bugged behavior is not actually intended.

Was it Gothic3 that had spoiler next the chance to have replenishing mana like the auto-health abomination

It spoiled that game, be careful what you wish for... <spooky cellos>

You might wanna look for a psychiatrist in your neighbourhood. It sounds like you have some huge mental disorder.
