I cannot find that skillbook which is a lvl 1 skill... the seller for thieves' books in the tavern has never had this skill book...

A lot of people have been saying this. I personally have not played a rogue, but I think the current solution is to get it during your character's creation. That's the only way.

Save before talking to elemental/trader selling thief skill books....talk to elemental, check inventory, if he's got it buy, if not load and try again...repeat until you get it...????....Profit.

it seems that the skillbooks are renewed everytime we load and new skillbooks appear when we lvl up. However, this b*** has never had this specific skillbook, and as long as I don't have it, I cannot kill her for being a source user -_-

Not just renewed. The inventory of each trader actually changes every time you load. Admittedly I haven't tried it for skill books but that's how it works with everything else and I seriously doubt it's any different. Teleport out of the area, teleport back and do the reload trick. It should work.

Hmmm, not sure, Not sure if Larian have skills that are hard/impossible to find in stores. Have you done the portal maze south of sacred stone? There are three skill books from different classes on three pedestals and you can only grab one. Those looked special, don't remember the spells they were about though.

There are only 2 ways of obtaining this skill: selecting it at character creation or buying it from air elemental in homestead (earlist possible after obtaining 4 blood/star stones). There is no other vendor that has it for trade.

This was the reason I sought out a character editor. I realize it's cheating, but I don't think it's overpowered to get Walk In Shadows this way since it appears the devs just overlooked putting the book in.

I used LSTools to add this skill to my rogue hireling and to re-assign some of his and Jahan's stats. There's a whole other thread for this, but the tool is located here:

my point Tommy123 is that specific character in an archer with rogue, if I knew that we could not have had that skill I would have selected the rogue and gave him archers skills...

a shame that some skills cannot be found in the game if you don't take them "natively"

Will this work for all vendors with skills and gear?

For example, if I am looking for a 2-handed axe and the vendor does have it, could I do the save/reload trick to see if he will have it? Or does it only work for skill books?

In any case, this trick sounds good to get the skills that you want, early in the game

Within reason....vendors aren't going to start selling things they don't sell so don't expect the elementals selling skillbooks to start selling axes but the save/reload trick will get them to change up the skillbooks they carry if they don't have the specific spell you're looking for.

indeed, it seems that depending on your level, they have a fix list of skillbooks that they may have, every time you load a game, this skillbooks among this list are randomly chosen, so if you reload several times you might be able to buy every skillbooks on the seller list, but the list itself seems to change when you level up only

IMPORTANT UPDATE : the skillbook walk in the shadow exist, the wind elemental in homestead does sell it !!

Well, the Walk in Shadows skillbook is one of the books that doesn't have an Object Category, which means it will never be part of any randomized loot/inventories (it has to be deliberately placed as a non-random item). Most other Scoundrel skillbooks have an Object Category of "SkillbookRogue", which is why they can be found at Scoundrel vendors.
