Hi,

Divine Divinity works bad for me. It loads really slowly and pauses every few seconds when I'm moving.
It seems like the game has to load every slight change. It doesn't matter of I'm in a big area or a small area, surround by charachters or completely isolated.
I have a p4 1.8
256 megs of ddr
a creative soundblaster 16 sound card
a decent motherboard
a good hard drive
a good DVD rom drive

What could be causing this bad loading and choppiness issues?
My bro runs this game perfectly:
P4 1.4
750+ megs of ram
an EAX compatable 70+ dollar soundcard
the same motherboard
a good hard drive
a good CD rom drive

I wonder if this game needs even more RAM than 256 megs.
OR, if its that I;m trying to run it on a DVD rom drive,
OR if my sound card is too weak.
Although, I've turned the sound off and the performance is exactly the same.
I've also set my graphical settings at rock bottom and the performance is exaclty the same.
Hmm.

Thanks,
Jeetling

Did you shut down all non-essential programs before starting the game? anti-virus, chat, email, web browsers, audio / video players, screen savers, anything that pops up reminders / updates, wallpaper changers, etc. There are a few processes in Windows XP that are always running, but you don't need to worry about these. In Windows 9x/ME you can shut down everything but Explorer and Systray.

In the configuration program, have you tried Software, Direct Draw and Direct3D modes?
What kind of video card do you have? What version of DirectX?

Wow, thank you for the response!
When I get home I'll respond more thoroughly, including info about whats actually running in the background.
So, my computer specs are adequate to run this game smoothly?

I had no problems with a D900, 512MB, GeForce2 MX 32MB system. Your computer appears to meet or exceed the recommended specs. The optical drive used should not matter after the game starts, except for a couple videos played at certain points in the game.
