Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity Original Sin - Help/Tips/Tricks I'm damn pissed off

So yeah i've been searching throughout all of the internet and frankly it seems that nobody is having the same problem as I. Well out of complete desperation I decided to make a thread here after a year of attempts in order to register.
I am stuck in the Witch quest, FYI i already made the knights vulnerable and i can kill them, Currently level 16. I slaughtered everything in that quest ,searched throughout all of the map and found the Witch,but apparently i cannot free her. Quest is telling me that i should free the elements,I do not know how.
TL;DR
how can i free the elements in the Witch quest?

Do you mean the White Witch in Hiberheim?

Have you beaten Boreas? The conversation after that explains what to do to free the elementals. What shows up in your quest log?

I obviously did,although i couldn't be arsed to read the conversation with him afterwards as fighting people which were level 14 was utterly boring XD
, i went to the harder part first, im also playing on hard so i find it anomalous that i was able to reach that far before doing the witch quest.

anyway,how far am i from completing the game? i wouldnt wan't to finish it anytime soon xd

Get the staff to the forge.
Talk to the Elementals that were trapped inside and get a summoning stone (looks a bit like an ice shard).
Get back to the witch and use the summoning stone so that the fire elemental can use his flamethrower on the ice that traps her.

If you don't care for the XP, you can just as well finish the game without freeing her or visiting Hilberheim at all.

How can i use the staff on the forge?

Drag and drop the staff from your inventory onto the forge.

Your quest log tells you to destroy the staff at the elemental forge, did you read that? I had a tiny tear in my eye at the thought of destroying that super awesome staff but otherwise the instructions are pretty straight forward, there's nothing to figure out.

Something you should never ever do in Original Sin.

Always pay attention to what people are telling you to do. And please, please, always read your journal.

So to sum up:

• It should be obvious what parts of the game you've completed, although you've skipped around in the game.
• You don't think the game should have let you skip around.
• The result of skipping around was you got bored later, so you didn't read any of the things that would have told you how to free the witch.
• You're very angry because you weren't told how to free the witch.

You may be looking for a more linear game. Every game isn't for every player. No slur intended.
