Made a new character and took 1 point in charisma. When I got into arguments with the 2nd source hunter (no AI) after the drunk legionaries and charmed orc events I wasn't getting a boost to my RPS wins. It was the base 3 no matter if I chose intimidate, charm or reason. Companion has 0 charisma.

Tried an experimental character. At character creation I upped charisma to 2 and then took politician. The character sheet clearly says I have 4 charisma but when I actually get into an argument I get 6 points (3 base + 3 charisma bonus) for each RPS round I win.

For some reason there seems to be a -1 modifier.

Apparently this is only been since the recent patch but I don't see it in the notes so I'm if this is working as intended.

It's not a flat -1 modifier.

But yes, charisma is acting very weird. Low levels only remove bonusses of opponents, not add to your own roll, and only 4+ add to your own roll... that's what my own tests showed anyway.

also, many of the instances of charisma battles have different bonuses to different strategies. sometimes, intimidation gets a huge bonus (usually when trying to convince orcs), other times, charm works best.

frankly, I think charisma only affects how the character you speak to first reacts to you. if it is a positive reaction, they minimize their bonuses in charisma battles. I noticed once I hit 5 charisma, no opponent ever started a battle at better than (3) for their rolls.

I think the bonuses on YOUR side in those battles are due to the option you pick for the type of contest (intimidation vs charm etc).

I'm through hunters and into the dark forest at level 19, so have done a LOT of these battles. this is my impression of how the system works.

There are really only 3 options for what you choose... -1,0 or +1. Nothing more or less. Perception reveals them, so we can say this for absolute certainty.
