So I got me the Tenebrium Handling skill at the sapling level of 7 but I have no toys to play with. I'm playing a Rogue here and the loot at the Luculla Mines seem to be fixed(2h Sword, 2h Mace, Spear). Are there any other locations where I can get a Tenebrium Dagger for free?

The trader in Sacred Stone sells all kind of Tenebrium weapons.
When you are already in the mines, you can just mine some Tenebrium there and enchant your dagger with it (Ore+Furnace=Bar; then just use that Bar on your weapon - as long as it isn't a staff.)

What trader in SS? The goblin apprentice one? He only has bars. Masamune has nothing for sale.

Maybe your level is too low to get access to the Tenebrium weapons in his store? When you check back later the Goblin has all kinds of Tenebrium weapons for sale.

That reminds me of a question: what are tenebrium weapons for?
I just finished the game, I never found one that'd deal more damage than my usual weapon, and more importantly I never had to use them, though at some point I remembered it seemed important for a reason... I just can't remember.

Tenebrium weapons might have a similar base damage as your regular weapons, but they will use the Tenebrium skill for bonus damage calculation instead of the weapon skill. Since you can get a passive +2 Tenebrium bonus (quest+book) and a +3 bonus from gear you can double that base damage while the regular skill is capped at level 5(+2 from gear) ->only +70% additional damage.

While the Tenebrium weapon at the store might not compare favorably to your legendary weapons, you can simply enchant them with Tenebrium and they will use the Tenebrium skill as well.
The second bonus of the Tenebrium skill is that it will apply for weapons of any type, so if your Scoundrel wants to switch to a Bow, he will get the same damage multiplier, or think of a tanky Warrior with Shield that can switch to a big 2H Axe (or the other way around).

Nice, thanks a lot! I didn't know that, I thought they were mandatory at some point in the game, because of mobs immune to everything but them.

I have read conflicting reports about this, and finally just confirmed it right now that you're right. Would it be a bug or is it intentional? I mean, if it's the latter, then there's really no point in putting to the other weapon skills then.

I see the other weapon skills as beginner skills like pickpocket, barter or the +1Skillpoint talent that you can choose if you are having trouble early in the game, but are a waste of points longterm.

As of now, it is best to put points into the tenembarium skill. The other skills are a waste. This is a major design flaw.

Before you upgrade anything with tenembarium, threw crafting or blacksmithing, upgrade your armor or weapons first. Once you add the tenembarium, they can no longer be enhanced. frown I think that is a bug.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

The weapon skills are a waste anyway (IMO). Same for Tenebrium if it wasn't a requirement to wield better Tenebrium weapons. Maybe if they made it simply a requirement skill (so no bonus) it would work better, and still use the regular skill instead.

There is one quest that requires Tenebrium weapon, regarding some blood stone (I would not spoil more).

My opinion is quite the opposite.

The thing is that this is not MMO. End game power is irrelevant. What is important is player power through whole the game on average.

For first 50% of game, regular weapon skills are always beneficial (at least first 3 points, if not more), and gimping yourself for some end game powerplay is just suboptimal way of playing the game.

Then, when you finally get Tenebrium, my opinion is that player is already invested enough in regular weapons, that it is a waste to invest points in Tenebrium.

Also, while you can convert regular weapon to tenebrium skill weapon using tenebrium bars, which adds more bonus damage then elemental essence, there is an additional trick here. If you use elemental essence on such tenebrium converted weapon, you'll convert tenebrium damage to elemental damage, thus getting more elemental damage then if elemental essence was used as only component in crafting.
