It's frustrating having to close the game if I want the sound to stop playing. Is there a flag or something i can set on the executable to mute the sound while the game is minimized?

Thanks!

Quickest solution probably is to right-click the speaker icon in the systray, select "open volume mixer," and then click the mute button underneath the "speakers" icon (or your default audio device if it's different.) Takes about two seconds.

I'm never wrong about anything, and so if you see an error in any of my posts you will know immediately that I did not write it...;)

But this mutes all the sound. Surely this is not what OP wants. (If it is, he would have already done it).

Correct.

I can just as easily turn off my speakers in half a second, but this is the sort of game that's so easy to jump in and out of, that I'd like having it open pretty much all the time; just minimized when I'm not currently playing.

I'd like to still have access to sound from other games/programs while this one is running.

Anyway, perhaps the Technical Issues Forum is a better place to ask this.

True. Will a mod move this or should I repost?

I can move it.

AFAIK this is on the to-do list (was asked about in a twitch stream some time ago).

Thanks Raze.

I realized that I can at least mute the application from the mixer within windows 7, so this'll do for now. This is perhaps what Waltc was suggesting to begin with.
