Has anyone looked at this game? If you have are the graphics good? I've also heard that it's cute because of the cows but that it plays well. What have you heard?

I'm afraid that when I look at new games now after having played DD and other game with "lighter" and better graphics, I have issues with the "darker" games like Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dales (it also looks like the Elemental Evil game has darker graphics so I haven't bought that one).

Look here.

It's also known as KnightShift - I think it was originally German.

The Demo is already out: Look at www.knightshift.com.
The game was created in Poland (by the makers of Earth 2150), but the European Publisher is a German company.
I have played the demo, I'd say it's a love it or hate it game. Don't trust any judgements you hear from other people, just try yourself. The game has been released both in Poland and in Germany, and got mixed reviews, from "boring" to "great", and that shows that nature of the game, IMO.
The game is split into two parts: A role-playing and a RTS one. The role-playing part is diablo-style: Killing Monsters, collecting items, but not much conversation. The RTS part is not very deep or strategical, but quite fun to play.
The game reminds me of Beasts&Bumpkins (in case anyone remembers that great game), with its humor and light gameplay. The graphics are very good, but the animations are not up to that standard.

I just downloaded the demo and tried to play.
I couldn't even get the inventory to respond properly. Also in the demo they don't offer you male/female selection. I became Sheri the male knight - kind of cute.

I have to vote no on this one - sad.

Sheri... male?
Are you sure it wasn't a pink knight?

Or maybe Eddy Wally?

I bought it the day it came out. I've played it twice, once as a RPG and the other as a RTS. The graphics are good. I found game play to be a bit slow, but then most games start out that way as you learn the controls, etc. I haven't played it enough to really give a judgment, but I believe it has good potential.

In the german topic NGSN ("Next Generation Spiele News" ) there was recently a heated discussion, because one of Germany's major gaming mags, the Gamestar, had "tested" it without having a testable version of the game. It seems, they used an very old beta for testing, but printed it, and gave the game not so much points as it would have deserved as the full game tested. The publisher for Germany says it contained only abozut 5 % of the whole game. Gamestar instead says that the publisher had booked an large advertisement and expected a high ranking for that.

This nasty thing is very much discussed here in Germany, because this is the first case of such an awful error.

Personally, Gamestar behaves somehow stubborn : They say they wil NOT repeat the test with the full version.

This says two things : If it is true that the publisher had booked such a large ad for getting better reviews, then it must've been the case in earlier reviews, because otherwise they wouldn't have had the idea at all, I believe.

On the other hand, Gamestar has failed to test a game carefully. They didn't even test the Multiplayer part.

KnightShift consists mainly of two parts : A roleplaying game and an RTS game. I'd suggest using RPGDot.com for searching for more information about this.

I don't often download a demo to see how a game works if I think it will be a good game - but I've bought too many recently that just didn't appeal to me after I paid for it = lots of lost money.

Do the demos usually react the same way the game ends up acting? In this case when the inventory opened up it was really sluggish and I had difficulties getting it to close. This was the RPG portion of the game. I have to say I made a quick judgement using the demo. Also, I didn't like that I couldn't choose to have a female avatar as a knight or barbarian or archer (all male - @Seth, I think Sheri might have worn pink ).

I guess my question is, if someone has played both the demo and the game - is the demo a good representation of the game?

Sorry.
I don't think I will play it. And surely not buy it.
Becouse of what I seen of it so far and what I read here.

(-I don't mind Sheri wearing pink though. )

It is said somewhere that the system requirements are quite high.

I think I'll buy it someday, possibly as "budget software".

I think that's an excellent idea Alrik! I wouldn't feel so bad paying $20 vs $40.

You know the very last game I bought and truly enjoyed was Divine Divinity! You guys are really making it hard for the other game producers to compete! LOL - Keep up the good work.

haven't heard from the queen for quite some time. u may not know me but welcome back anyways.

about knightshift, i heard it's quite good though sluggish in certain areas. u can check out http://www.avault.com for reviews.

demos can be quite accurate, depending on the devs & time. look at DD's demo which some people diss very badly. but the actual game is great.

IGN also has reviewed the game.

I have seen it in the stores. Picked it up, looked at it and put it back. Fighting cows might be fun for a minute, but in the long haul, it didn't looked that interesting. I passed. BTW Hi there D'Queen!
