I just bought the game; thought I would be up all night playing. But after 45 minutes I found myself tensing up whenever I had to move my character.

It literally feels like trying to walk in molasses. I always like to explore every nook and cranny, but in this game, it is torture. The (lack of) movement speed is incredibly frustrating, and I'm speaking as an old-school Ultima player. I know what it is like to play games where walking is the only option, but this is painful. Literally.

So - Is there any way to change the movement speed? Any upcoming fixes perhaps?

Get items or talents that enhance movement speed.
Those work out of combat, as well as in combat.
Always use your fastest character to move, not your big slow guy in armor.

Battlemage and Knight may not have been the best choice then, since they both move like turtles. Good to know that items and talents will increase speed - if it is substantial, the game will actually be fun.

I really like the speed of movement myself. If it were any faster you might not have time to react between your perception skill spotting a trap and you forcing your characters to stop moving before they plow into it.

At first it was slow to me. Probably played too much games that are faster paced. I love the current movement speed for now. But making a slider for faster movement speed to others who want it wouldn't hurt. I now learn to use the portal for travelling much easier.

I don't think movement speed affects you out of combat. I just disconnected all my characters (speeds range from 1.5 to 5.0) and quickly had them race and they all moved at the same speed.

Movement speed stat only affects movement in combat.
The only way to speed up out of combat movement is with haste.

I'm trying the speed mod. It's improved the game by 1000% and I'm having a lot more fun now! delight

I absolutely agree, you need the Speed Mod. It's the first mod I ever installed and I couldn't play without it now.

Search for the Cheat Engine, it has a configurable speedup hack. X2 did it nicely for me.

Speed of linked characters follows main.

Rabbit rings helped me for my rogue.

You can haste with mage while running with a second character to make it go faster.
